Aponjon transition event, 10th May, 2018

Aponjon is close to the end of its program period with USAID. As a successful venture of USAID Aponjon will continue to run under the wing of Lifechord, a newly formed social enterprise of Dnet. To mark this transition of Aponjon an event was held at the Lakeshore Hotel in Dhaka, on the 10th of May 2018, titled “Celebrating Happy Motherhood: Journey of ‘Aponjon’ m-Health Service” with Mr. Zahid Maleque, State Minister of Health and Family Welfare as the chief guest and Joby George, Chief of Party, MaMoniHSS as the chair of the event.  The event included other prominent guests from USAID, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Save the Children and other public and private partners. The program highlighted Aponjon’s contribution to mobile health services and its future prospects and goals in the health sector in Bangladesh.

 

 

Digital Trade Fair, May, 2018

Aponjon participated in the Digital Banijjo mela arranged by SHIFT MDDRM in Sherpur Sadar, Nalitabari, Nakla and Melandah (Jamalpur District). The fair was primarily aimed to raise awareness on benefits of Digital Financial Services and Consumer Rights in the remote areas. Our stall promoted the services of Aponjon and the ‘Babu Barta’ book. The book is written in simple language and with easy to comprehend visuals. The book is aimed to ‘walk’ a pregnant woman through her entire pregnancy term. The book details the growth of a fetus all the way upto childbirth. The book also provides childcare guidance and also postnatal care for the mother herself. At the fair in Nakal, when our stall presented the UNO, Mr. Rajib Kumar Sarker, with a copy of the book, he was immediately excited and expressed that such a book could be crucial to pregnant women and mothers. The book could also help to raise awareness and understanding amongst family members regarding pregnancy. Aponjon team decided to gift 20 books to Nakla Upazila Parishad, from where the books would be distributed to various Health Complexes and satellite clinics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Participation in the SBCC/EE Summit, 16th-20th April, 2018

Aponjon has participated in the SBCC/EE summit 2018 held in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia from April 16 – 20, 2018 for an oral presentation of a paper the abstract of which has been selected for the purpose. This was an opportunity for learning, knowledge sharing and networking for BCC related activities in the global scale. Dr. Partha Pratim Das, Content Specialist and Anupama Islam Nisho, M&E Associate of Aponjon has attended the summit. The abstract was presented by Dr. Partha Pratim Das.

 

 

 

 

Aponjon road show, April, 2018

Aponjon moved to the busy streets of Dhaka city with a campaign called ‘Aponjon Road Show’ from 27th April to 2nd of May 2018. The campaign was held to promote Aponjon service to people and gain urban reach by distributing leaflets, posturing on prime locations, engaging people in quiz show and puzzle solving and awarded them gifts. The campaign has resulted into a 50% increase in self registration through the call center.

 

 

mBillionth Award, 4th August, 2017

On August 4, Aponjon Shogorbha, the flagship mobile app from Aponjon, received the mBillionth Award South Asia 2017 in Health and Wellbeing category. Dr. Partha Pratim Das, Content Specialist (Health) received the award for Aponjon at the awards gala ceremony held at New Delhi, India. Aponjon showcased its products and services in the event and participated in a roundtable discussion on how mobile content is changing the landscape of health service across the region. Aponjon shared its experience of the journey of ‘Aponjon Shogorbha’ and emphasized on the importance of following human centered design principles in the process of constructing digital products.

 

 

Participation in ICT4D conference, 15th to 18th May, 2017

On May 15-18 Sankalita Kedia Shome, COO of Aponjon attended in the ICT4D conference held in Hyderabad India. The annual ICT4D conference brings together public, private and civil society organization from across the humanitarian and international developmental community. Participant’s share how they have used technology for development and increase impact of their work. The 2017 conference focused on harnessing the power of data to accelerate progress toward the SDGs and increase the impact of our programs. Sankalita Shome represented Aponjon’s impact on the beneficiary of this service elaborating on how it makes a difference with stage based information and instruction generating technology. Being the only mHealth service which charges its beneficiaries among other participants, sustainability came in focus. Later on 19th and 20th May a round table meet took place where on a panel discussion all 4 country who implemented mHealth service sat together to share their experience and challenge on sustainability.

 

 

 

 

Participation in Brand Forum Seminar, 18th March, 2017

Aponjon as a case of digital branding in Bangladesh was presented through ‘Aponjon story’ in the 6th Brand Forum Seminar arranged by Bangladesh Brand Forum on 18th March 2017. Tahsin Ifnoor Sayeed, Sr. Assistant Director represented Aponjon with the Aponjon story. The Aponjon story emphasized on the digital way of delivering content, customer acquisition (referring to social media) and service delivery.

 

 

Aponjon Radio Talk Show, 8th March, 2018

8th March on the eve of International Womens Day Aponjon came live on Peoples Radio 91.6 FM. Sutapa Biswas from Dnet informed about the service prospects to the audience and Dr. Nabila Tanjim answered to medical queries from the audience. This interactive talk show gave exposure to Aponjon to reach more mothers and their families to help improve their knowledge and behavior on maternal, neonatal and child healthcare.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Partisipation in a workshop on UHC, 16th to 19th January 2017

From 16th-19th January, 2017, 2 Aponjon member participated in a week long workshop under “eHealth for Universal Health Coverage” in response to an invitation from SEARCH, Bangladesh (ICDDRB). Dr. Akteruzzaman Bhuiyan, Head of Digital Products and Business Intelligence and Dr. Fida Mehran, Head of Connected Health and Content participated on behalf of Lifechord. This was focused on developing an understanding of the role and scope of eHealth in realizing Bangladesh’s UHC goals and to disseminate the “Equity & Accountability Framework” developed by SEARCH team of ICDDRB.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aponjon featured in mHealth Compendium Special Edition, July-September, 2016

Aponjon, the largest mHealth service globally, has been acknowledged as one of the top ten grown to scale services. It was featured in the ‘mHealth Compendium Special Edition 2016: Reaching Scale’ which presents ten in-depth profiles of mHealth programs that have grown in scale over time. This marks an important stage in Aponjon’s journey on the backdrop of migration to the new technology platform and formation of LifeChord Limited.
