Participation in SRHR conference, 3rd to 5th May, 2016

Aponjon participated in the three-day National Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) held at Bangla Academy from 3 to 5 May, 2016. The conference is organized by the Embassy of Sweden, Royal Embassy of Netherlands, UNFPA, UNICEF and RHSTEP, with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as partner and Bangla Academy as its host partner. 2 mobile apps of Aponjon was showcased in stalls. On the first day of the SRHR conference a discussion held in the Bangla academy auditorium on the scope of contribution of ICT in sexual and reproductive health and rights. Chief operating officer of Aponjon Scion M. Anjir Hossain shared the success of Aponjon to reach over 150000 mothers throughout the country by mobile based health information service.

 

 

 

 

Dnet global launcing, 15th June, 2015

On June 15th 2015, a launching event of Dnet Global (registered with IRS under 501c(3)) was held at the Mozilla Foundation headquarters. During the span of the event, both Aponjon and Infolday were mainly showcased as flagship initiatives of Dnet. Nevertheless, organizers emphasized more on raising “friends” rather than just funds, so that Dnet Global can play a catalytic role in ensuring sustainable partnerships and/or funds for Aponjon in the future. The event was funded by external sources.

 

 

 

 

 

Participation in international conference on health coverage, 9th to 11th April, 2015

Aponjon’s Impact & Research team have participated in the maiden international conference on health coverage and public health in Bangladesh from 9th-11th April 2015. An abstract submitted by Atik Ahsan, Tahsin Ifnoor Sayeed & Kazi Farzana made it to the list of top 12 entries among 120 primary submissions for the poster session. The abstract was titled “Making A Case for Localized mHealth Content: Triangulations from Verbal Autopsy and Ethnographic Study” and attracted a lot of visitors for the uniqueness of its research method and the intervention discussed.

 

 

 

Participation in TRAction Dissemination Event in icddr,b, 3rd December, 2015

As an external body the International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) has evaluated Aponjon service. On 3rd December, 2015 a dissemination event held in the icddr,b premises, where research findings was shared in presence of partners of Aponjon like Brac, Smiling sun, Save the children, USAID, NHSDP, DGFP. Dr. Ananya Raihan, CEO of Dnet presented an introduction of Aponjon to the audience. Icddr,b researchers presented the qualitative and quantitative findings while Tahsin Ifnoor Sayeed from Aponjon, presented the programmatic actions taken. The findings revealed that minimum 6 months’ of use of Aponjon along with receiving at least 3 messages per month & carefully listening to most of the messages had effect on increased knowledge and practice of maternal and newborn care.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aponjon Bus Branding, April-June, 2015

With a view to promote Aponjon’s new services as well as the Aponjon brand itself, the team has arranged a campaign through local transportation. For this purpose bus branding has been chosen as the initial medium. Though planned for 10, in the reported time 8 buses plied in the following 4 routes:

Mirpur 14-Motijheel, Mohammadpur-Badda, Mohammadpur-Banasree, Postogola-Abdullahpur. 348 calls have been attributed to bus branding resulting in 168 subscriptions till date.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Aponjon festival with launching of infolady, April, 2015

One Aponjon Festival by Aponjon BP was held at Jessore under the supervision of Jessore regional office in April. The festival was held with the launching ceremony of Infolady who will work as Aponjon BP at Manirampur, Jessore. Dnet’s Chairman Dr. Toufic Ahmad Choudhury was honorable guest of that festival. All Aponjon BP were present at the festival.

 

 

 

 

Stakeholder Workshop in the PM’s office, 18th March, 2015

Dr, Ananya Raihan has participated in a high-powered workshop at the PM’s office titled- Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on ‘Shared Services in Health – The Digital Opportunity’

Dr. Raihan spoke and shared his views on the challenges in the sector.
